Greg Peters

Greg was born and raised in Western Maryland, in the city of Cumberland. He grew up in a Christian home and attended Second Baptist church, along with his parents and three siblings. Throughout his life, Greg has always been involved in sports, which includes weightlifting, basketball, baseball, tennis, and competing in 5K and Half Marathon races. Greg graduated from Fort Hill high School in 1978. He attended Allegany College, and was a member of the Men’s Tennis Team for two seasons. He later attended Frostburg State University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Sociology.
In 1985, Greg married Kelli Kaiser (Peters), and they have been blessed with three children, Rachel, Jordan and Moriah; along with two grandchildren, Evan and Naomi. He and his family attend Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cumberland. In 1984, Greg began working for the Allegany County Health Department’s Lois E. Jackson Unit, which is an inpatient substance abuse program for adolescents. During his 35 years of employment, Greg functioned as both a substance abuse counselor and supervisor.
In 2018, Greg retired from State Service, as he felt the Lord leading him into ministry work. After seeking the Lord’s direction through prayer, in November 2018, Greg began volunteering with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). After 5 months of volunteering, he has come on staff with FCA.
Greg is passionate about discipling both coaches and athletes, and helping them grow in their relationship with the Lord. Since his involvement with FCA, Greg has been encouraged by Proverbs 11:30 which says, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.” There is no greater joy or reward, than winning souls for Christ.
